Pulau Redang, Terengganu, Malaysia (2nd to 4th September 2009)
- one of the worlds's few remaining conservatories of coral and marine biodiversity . . .
The Redang Archipelago is truly a gift sent from the heavens. The water surrounding these islands is teeming with marine life. About 500 species of living, breathing soft and hard corals create a wondrous seascape just below the white caps.
And in turn these reef-building corals shelter a host of inhabitants - a myriad species of bivalves and fish. Redang island is perfect for snorkelling, swimming, scuba diving, jungle trekking, boating and canoeing.
This paradise-like island offers crystal clear water, pearly white shores, a colourful array of spectacular marine life, breathetaking sunsets and what could be the world's most mature coral garden.
This is a chance to see and be aquainted wih local eels, giant garoupa, black tipped shark etc. Chance encounters with Green turtles and Hawksbill turtles are common. There are corals of every imaginable shape, size and colour. The observant are rewarded with sights of flatworm, nudibranch, shrimp, squid, cuttlefish, stonefish, lionfish and pipefish.
