Genting Skyway Cable Car
RM 6 (1 way), RM 12 (2 way)
It’s Southeast Asia’s longest cable car ride and fastest mono cable car system in the world. Running at about 22 km an hour, the Genting Skyway takes you on a scenic journey 900m into the clouds to the Genting Highlands Resort 1,768 m away. Amazing scenery down below at the valley of hills. Commuters can also enjoy the lush greenery and man made animal carvings on the hillsides.
(Scale greater heights when you ride on the Genting Skyway! Linking from its Main Station at Gohtong Jaya to Highlands Hotel, the Genting Skyway offers a very convenient, high tech super smooth and safe ride up to the resort city.

Officially opened by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Feb 21, 1997, the Genting Skyway can carry more than 2,000 people per hour each way with 8 passengers per gondola. At the maximum speed of 6 metres per second, the 3.38 kilometres journey up the mountain peak takes only 11 minutes.

Passengers will disembark at the smart and impressive Genting Skyway Station at Gohtong Jaya. Bus and car parking facilities are readily available. The ultra-efficient station will allow hotel and luggage check-in procedures to be completed at the station itself. Visitors need only sit back and enjoy a leisurely ride up to the holiday resort without having to go through further hassles of checking-in formalities while at hotels.
When building the Genting Skyway, no expense were spared to ensure the complete safety of the system. The 2 x 640KW power of the main drive and the 54mm diameter solid cable wire also makes it one of the most powerful and strongest monocable gondola installation in the world. The entire system with high-tech electronic equipment was built in accordance with stringent Swiss regulations and it has a double safety circuit completely independent and absolutely fault safe.

The foundation used for the pylons is of the "Hang-dug Caisson" type. Each pylon is founded on four Caissons measuring 1.2 meters in diameter, which are socketed down to bedrock. The average depth of the Caissons is about 40 m (135 feet) and each group of four Caissons piles can take a vertical load of 4,000 tonnes against the maximum vertical load of 150 tonnes from the cable car system. The Caissons method is about the safest and strongest foundation in existence, designed specifically for hilly terrain. Each pylon is accessible via rescue tracks on the ground, whilst each gondola is equipped with radio communication equipment from the stations.

The Genting Skyway will not only further enhance the international fame of Genting Highlands Resort but will also place Malaysia as a famous location for one of the most modern cable car system.)
